Pain and Pleasure

Between pain & pleasure

Forget about pain n pleasure. Pay your attention on the current moment or situation. What is the most useful and practical thing to do now? Focus on the space between pain and pleasure. There is a neutrality there.

When I feel a headache or constriction of feelings or sorts, I ease back to the neutralness or equalness in mind. I don’t try to solve the problem or even understand the conundrum. No need. I don’t need to know/understand anything at all.

All understanding does is simply the ego telling me that my ideas need reinforcement.  No need. Too slow and too much resistance. It is this resistance or need to know/understand that causes momentary fixation/obsession. Hence, I put my mind aside whenever doubt or “trying to assimilate” feeling arise.

Just rest in the equilibrium state. The space between thought. The space between mental activities or inner dialog. No need to talk or reiterate to oneself. Just live, be and be fully aware of what’s happening to me at the present moment from sensation to sensation.

The trick is to fully relax, surrender and let go. Let the mind ease off and do its functions as if the body is doing all the involuntary actions like heatbeating and breathing. If we use the mind/mental activities subconsciously like blinking or feeling tired when the body has had enough – we gently reduce the state of mental agitation.

When I realise that I can function without my mind consciously, and be fully alert and aware in the here and now – I experience an ever newness and ever blissness if I continue on. It is seeing reality without any imagination or regrets.

Imagination and anticipation is toward the future – drop that. Worries and regrets are from the past memories – drop that too. Now you are left with the in between. The eye of the storm where there is calm, rest and equanimity. Please try.

From this state of mind/no mind you be, stay and watch all your random thoughts, feelings in the body, suffering, pain, pleasure, joy etc…  Witness everything and give it attention but don’t cling or attach to any – good or bad, painful or pleasurable.

Practice.  Start little by little, baby steps by baby steps and do it gently and humorously if you wish. No condemnation, no judging and no punishing of oneself. Be nice to yourself inwardly always.

Perception is biased always. Non-perception is even better. You just accept and rest with the flow. From this rest you will find creativity unbound and clarity unknown.
